For the Department of Fish Biology, Fisheries and Aquaculture, Research Group Integrative Fisheries Management of Leibniz Institute of Freshwater Ecology and Inland Fisheries (IGB) in Berlin-Friedrichshagen (www.igb-berlin.de) at the beautiful Lake Müggelsee we are inviting applications for the position of postdoc/scientist in human dimensions of recreational fisheries with a starting date of January, 1, 2024. The position is limited to a maximum of two years.
Within the project marEEchange funded by the German Ministry of Education and Research, we are searching for a postdoc in human dimensions of recreational fisheries to study the reorganization of the recreational fishery for the western Baltic Cod. At IGB, you will become a member of an interdisciplinary team of fisheries researchers led by Prof. Dr. Robert Arlinghaus (www.ifishman.de) who studies fisheries as social-ecological systems. Other collaborators are from iDiv (Prof. Martin Quaas), University of Hamburg (Prof. Dr. Christian Möllmann) and Thünen Institute for Baltic Sea Fisheries (Dr. Harry Strehlow). This project is a follow-up project of the marEEshift project. The aim of the postdoc position is to study how the recreational fishery for western Baltic cod has responded to the stock recently crossing a tipping point and how the tipping point has been perceived, including the causal attribution of responsibility for the tipping point.
